When Passion Meets Precision - Inside the Hexis Australia and Motor Culture Australia Collaboration

Since September 2024, Motor Culture Australia (MCA) and Hexis Australia have been on a national journey that has redefined the intersection of automotive culture, innovation, and community. What began as a partnership grounded in shared values of creativity, precision, and a deep respect for car culture has evolved into one of the most distinctive collaborations the Australian automotive scene has seen in recent years.

From cars and culture gatherings to high-octane Track Festivals and the iconic 4x4 Weekender, Hexis Australia has been a constant and highly visible presence at MCA events and meets. More than simple event sponsorship, the brand has been seamlessly integrated into the DNA of each activation, showcasing the true potential of modern vinyl technology, demonstrating just how far wrap culture has progressed both technically and artistically.

At the heart of the collaboration lies a singular achievement, the creation of a bespoke MCA and Hexis colour. Developed at Hexis’ global headquarters in France, this was not merely a new shade. It was a community driven design exercise. In true Motor Culture fashion, MCA opened the creative process to its audience, inviting fans and members to vote on the colour direction through an interactive poll.

The response was decisive, the community wanted Midnight Purple.

Deep, complex, and unmistakably bold, Midnight Purple captures the atmosphere of late-night drives, the glow of track lighting, and the understated drama of exotic performance machinery. Once the result was confirmed, Hexis moved swiftly. Sample preparation began immediately within Hexis’ laboratories, with colour development, testing, and approval completed in remarkably short timeframes, particularly given the geographic distance between France and Australia.

Hexis’ advanced colour matching service enables the production of corporate or special colours in small runs starting from just 300 linear metres for cast films, with a guaranteed tolerance of ΔE < 1.5. This ensures visual consistency that is virtually indistinguishable from the original reference. With more than 1,000 custom colours produced over the years, Hexis’ state of the art colour mixing technology continues to deliver exceptional accuracy, repeatability, and reliability from initial formulation through to full production.

Once production was complete, it was time to bring the vision to life.

The first vehicle selected to wear Midnight Purple Metallic was nothing short of iconic, Tom Fu’s Ferrari F8 Spyder, known throughout the scene as the BIG FU Ferrari. Wrapped in house by Wrap Wise, the project came with additional complexity. Strict instructions were given not to remove any components from the vehicle during the process. Every surface, edge, and contour, was meticulously finished, knowing the car would be scrutinised by tens of thousands of enthusiasts at Motor Culture Australia events in the years ahead.

To elevate the car even further, the team introduced a custom designed, multi-layer centre stripe, making the Ferrari a true one of one in Australia. The finishing touch came in the form of factory Ferrari 488 Pista bespoke wheels, finished in bronze to complement the striping and enhance the overall colour palette.

The result is striking. Midnight Purple Metallic transforms dramatically depending on lighting conditions, appearing deep and moody in shade, then vibrant and luminous under direct sunlight. The metallic flake catches the light with precision, giving the colour a dynamic presence that ensures it stands entirely on its own.

Today, that original vision is a tangible reality. The Midnight Purple Ferrari F8 Spyder stands as the first vehicle in Australia to wear this exclusive formulation. Its public debut was November 16, 2025, at Motor Culture Australia’s Track Festival, where it took centre stage at the Hexis activation stand. Attendees will be able to experience the colour, craftsmanship, and story firsthand.

Beyond Midnight Purple, Hexis’ purple range, available in both gloss and satin, now spans seven alternate shades, offering everything from Deep Purple to Dark Side of the Moon. For those looking to own a piece of this collaboration, the limited-edition Midnight Purple Metallic HX20V45B is now available for sale.

Ultimately, this partnership represents more than a successful product launch. It is a statement of intent. When Hexis Australia and Motor Culture Australia collaborate, the outcome transcends vinyl and vehicles. It becomes a movement that celebrates design, performance, technical excellence, and community in equal measure.

As the Midnight Purple Ferrari F8 takes its place in the spotlight, it stands as a bold symbol of collaboration done right, innovative, uncompromising, and driven by passion at every level.
